Lease end: planning the return of IT hardware
At lease end, a deadline is ticking. Devices must come back complete, traceable and usually from several sites. Planning early avoids follow-up claims and rush.
What matters
- Deadline
- The return date in the contract determines the schedule – planned backwards.
- Completeness
- A target list and serial number capture at collection show what is missing.
- Storage media
- Whether data must be erased before return is set by the contract – implementation lies with you or the lessor.
- Sites
- Returns are often spread out; collection from several sites on request.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- By when must the return be completed?
- Is there a target list of devices?
- What does the contract say about storage media?
- At how many sites are devices located?
- Where does the return go?
What we need from you
- Return deadline
- Sites
- Rough quantities
- Destination per lessor

Questions and answers: Lease end: planning returns
How early should the return be planned?
As early as possible – ideally several weeks before the deadline so that sites, packaging and dates fit reliably.
Does serial number capture help with completeness?
Yes. It shows which devices were taken over; you or the lessor reconcile it with the target list.
Who erases the data before return?
Your lease agreement governs this – usually the lessor or an appointed service provider. We collect the devices accordingly.
