Hardware
Transporting workstations
Workstations from design, simulation or media production are heavier and more valuable than office PCs: large cases, expensive graphics cards, often several monitors per desk. For transport, protection from shocks and clear assignment matter.
What matters
- Heavy cases
- Tower workstations are heavy; cartons and pallets are designed accordingly.
- Graphics cards
- Large cards can move in their slot on impact. Many manufacturers recommend securing or removing them.
- Desk sets
- Labelling the workstation and monitors of one desk together saves effort at destination.
- Storage media
- Project data is often stored locally. Handling it lies with you.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- How many workstations, and which form factor?
- Should graphics cards be secured or removed?
- Do monitors travel along as a set?
- How is local data handled?
- Where are the devices going?

Questions and answers: Workstations
Does a workstation's graphics card have to be removed for transport?
For large cards some manufacturers recommend securing or removing them. Your IT team decides.
Can workstation and monitors travel as a desk set?
Yes, labelled together – but monitors on their own load carriers, never under heavy cases.
What about local project data?
Back them up or erase them with your IT team before collection – then the workstations travel without open questions.
