Transporting server racks – empty or populated
An empty 42U rack is tall, narrow and prone to tipping – a populated one is also heavy and valuable. We transport empty racks as bulky goods; populated ones only if the manufacturer and provider explicitly approve.
What matters
- Height
- Racks are often taller than doors and lifts. Whether they may be tilted depends on the design.
- Prone to tipping
- Racks are transported upright and secured against tipping.
- Populated only with approval
- A populated rack needs approval for transport and usually suitable packaging or a pallet.
- Side panels and doors
- Secure removable parts separately so they are not scratched.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- How many racks, which height and width?
- Are they empty or populated?
- Is there approval for populated racks?
- Do doors and lifts on site fit?
- Where are the racks going?

How are empty racks secured?
Upright and secured against tipping, with side panels and doors protected separately.
