Transporting large-format printers and plotters
Large-format printers and plotters are long, bulky and have sensitive ink systems. Before transport, the ink paths must be prepared according to the manufacturer – otherwise leaks or dried-up heads are likely.
What matters
- Length
- The device width corresponds to the print format. Long cartons or frames need a suitable load bed.
- Ink system
- Many manufacturers require a transport routine or draining of the ink system.
- Stand
- Stand and roll holders are removed and packed separately.
- Print heads
- Print heads are expensive and sensitive; they are secured or removed according to the manufacturer.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Which device and which print width?
- Has the ink system been prepared according to the manufacturer?
- Have stand and roll holders been removed?
- Is there original packaging?
- Where is the device going?
